Access to slow book - how to make use of it?

Mon Dec 11, 2023 3:41 am

Hi All,
I may gain an access to asian bookmaker which is updating odds infrequently - just a few times a day for all major events. It is slow in updating odds and also quite expensive (typical margin is around 12%). On the other hand I have access to other sharp asian books like Pin or SBO, so I was wondering how to make use of this situation to get some profit.
What I don't want is to blindly place bet(s) in sharp / slow book waiting for the odds to change in my favor - that is nothing different to regular gambling.

Any ideas welcome.

Subscribe to Pinnacle Odds Dropper or a similar service.
Whenever there is a big change in the price of Pinnacle (> 20%), you have an opportunity.

You have two options here:

1. On every opportunity, bet opposite sides so that you end up with a guaranteed profit (arbing).
2. On "good" opportunities - bet only the slow book - because it will be wrong and Pinnacle will be right (value betting).

What defines good opportunities is that the Pinnacle price is not manipulated. Typically, the closer you are to kickoff, and the more significant the market, the less likely it is to be a manipulation (because it's more expensive to manipulate such events).

Never used this tool, will give it a try. However I'm a bit worried whther such fluctuations (big change in the price of Pinnacle (> 20%)) are happening

They happen all the time, don't worry.
Some because of initial mispricings, but your sweet spot should be around the times that lineups are posted.

You don't really expect him to share, do you?

A 12% margin should not be considered ''expensive'' especially if you take into account the delay.
In my view any alert service covering decently Pinnacle (or Betfair) would do the job. You simply identify a rapid odd movement, you run to your bookmaker to place the bet, and then cover it in the sharp bookmaker.
You will then become more skilful to identify how long or short these odds will go, and you will be able to make the maximum out of them.
Just make sure your bookmaker is safe and reliable, and in the end they will pay your winnings. Arbitrage has the tendency to channel money in the soft side.

When you master this technique, you can jump to value betting, this will be even more profitable.
