Could someone explain what a bespoke bookmaker is and how it works? Would you trust a bespoke bookmaker? Any names you could suggest?

We need to define what a bespoke bookmaker is first, before answering the question. The definition could be very wide and could include anything between a regulated bookmaker and an underground syndicate. My personal experience with a bespoke bookmaker is extremely negative.

Bespoke bookmakers (or independent bookmakers) are basically a BS. They will tell you they can offer a more personal betting experience and bla-bla wrapped with nice words. Some of them will offer a credit account and that should make you very skeptical. How on earth will these bookmakers will get paid if you go under? Maybe they send you the dogs? And if they have dogs, maybe they are closer to mafia than then real betting world?
Since it all comes down to odds (as arbusers says) why the heck should they give you these odds and not keep the value for themselves? In the end, they too look for losers (just as every bookmaker and Betfair do). They simply can't afford to pay for the CS that a real bookmaker needs and therefore they go for less victims that will be drained out of cash one way or another.
Your scam alert meter should go crazy when you hear about Bespoke bookmakers, private bookmakers, independent bookmakers, etc etc.
