Commission Rates

Thu Jun 20, 2013 5:03 pm

What's the deal with Commission rates at big Betfair and it's little brothers? Does anyone have handy list of their rates and how they move up and down in the 2-5% range?

Way way back in the day when my grandfather and uncles were making book in pool halls and the backs of barber shops the standard was for punters to put down 11 to win 10 yielding a 4.545% "commission" for the bookmaker. These days it's all over the place from Pinnacle lowering the level and broadening the base to take a bit more than 2% (23/24[2.083%]; a flat 2% would be 24/25) on it's mammoth turnover vs. all those shitty books trying to turn a quick profit on 5/6: 8.333% or worse.

So where do each of the exchanges fall?

They seem to change the rates every now and then but I don't have the complete details about this though.

I believe they see each country as a different case.
No flat fees any more.

In the Betfair topic I have posted a link to the page where they explain for which countries they increased commissions.

Interesting. I wonder why default rates are in place for these specific countries:

In Indonesia, Malaysia, Poland, and Romania the default Market Base Rate is 6.5%
In Argentina, Belarus, Colombia, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Mexico, and Singapore the default Market Base Rate is 6%
In Norway and Finland the default Market Base Rate is 5.5%

I could understand for some place scammy like Nigeria.
