Media reports that the French lottery and gaming giant La Française des Jeux (FDJ) submitted an offer worth of €2.45bn to acquire the entire outstanding share capital of Kindred Group.
Kindred Group is the owner of a number of betting firms, such as Unibet, 32Red and others. Its North American leg did not perform well and as a result they announced a fully exit North America by the end of Q2 2024, together with job cuts. This comes after the exit from Norway in 2023.
Kindred has recommended its shareholders to accept the offer.
FDJ shows appetite for further acquisitions in Europe.

Are these good or bad news for the community?
I think Unibet do not deserve this kind of money. Could be bought much cheaper.

The concentration of many bookmakers under 1 roof has only been negative for the players. Corporations are able to cut costs but the players receive a different service.
And of course, I agree with you, the money they paid is too much.

There is always a bigger fish in the tank.
Kindred group is maybe one of the biggest game empires.

Kindred CEO Nils Andén announced the company ''is passively accepting Norwegian customers today''.
Kindred has no Norwegian websites and they don't do any local marketing. However, they are passively accepting Norwegian customers after what seems to be an agreement with the Norwegian regulator.
