Sharp Live Betting Books

Wed Nov 22, 2023 5:20 am

Hey everyone. I've coded a live betting bot for basketball totals for Bovada and plan to do so for other books. So far, it's backtested around ~63%. However, based on live testing, latency issues drop the win rate to about 58%. While this win rate is fantastic for pregame betting, live juices are often much higher. Additionally, I'm often betting on obscure leagues with lower limits, so I really need to hit a higher win rate in order to generate consistent, solid profit.

All this leads to my dilemma, which is finding which books offer the sharpest live betting lines? I know Pinnacle is considered to be the sharpest book generally, but their odds are delayed and the real time odds require a login which makes scraping them impossible. I've heard other books like Dafabet, SBO, IBC, Bookmaker, and Betfair Exchange (not the sportsbook) are also sharp as well, but I'm not sure how true this is and whether their livelines are sharp as well. Bet365 seems to offer the fastest updating livelines, but it is generally regarded as a soft book. Are their live lines sharp?

Additionally, if viewing these books odds requires a login, they aren't really feasible for my purposes as I need to scrape their live odds in real time without being detected and banned.

Essentially, I'd like to know:

1. What is the hierarchy of sharp books in general (not live betting specific)?
2. What is the hierarchy of sharp books for live betting specifically?
3. Are either of these hierarchies markedly different for the basketball market?

if we talk about high liquidity markets, nothing comes even close to Betfair. When you open a market on the Exchange you can see the overround % above the odds, the closer it is to 100% the sharper the odds are
