Media reports that Denise Coates, founder of Bet365, has fallen to the third place in the annual list of the top taxpayers in the UK. The Tax List features the top 100 UK taxpayers. Alex Gerko, XTX Markets founder topped the list, while Formula 1 tycoon Bernie Ecclestone took the second spot.
Now leaving aside parody, it is in the best interest of every smart bettor that Bet365 remains a healthy and profitable bookmaker. It worths mentioning some figures about Bet365 that would explain many of the contemporary phenomena we witness. Don't take these figures lightly.
- Bet365’s reported a £61.2m loss for 2022-23 despite an increase in sports betting and gaming revenue.
- Sports betting and gaming revenue for the year climbed 18.9% to £3.39bn. This included a 15.0% rise in sports betting revenue and a 31% hike in gaming revenue in 2022-23.
- Bet365 enjoyed a 29% rise in new customers, although this was lower than the previous year’s 48% increase.
All these while Bet365 expands rapidly in the US.

This is strange, but it is necessary to better study the expenses. Is it possible that they spent money on marketing campaigns in the USA?

Re: Tragedy for BET365. Our thoughts and prayers with them!
Of course, I don't have the complete picture in front of me, and one could say that I m cherry picking, but I will try to interpret the figures they announced.
Even though all other figures are good, Bet365 reported losses for 2022-23. That tells me that they spend money for the US expansion as Trevorr said above.
The rise in the sports betting revenue tells me 2 things. First, their traders and lines are more effective now. Secondly, they are much better now combating smart betting. A 15% rise is not a small number.
The drop of the rhythm getting new clients tells me that even though they have more US clients, their clients coming from mature markets like the UK and Europe are not flowing in like before. Again, this indicates they are discouraging successfully smart betting.

I dont think we will, not with smart betting.
Personally i am surprised bet365 reacted this late to all the smart bettors milking them, not mentioning the locusts.

a real killer blow for the serious smart gambler was the so called 'Black Wednesday' of the summer of 2022.
A day i will never forget and others too, the day bet365 finally changed their limit structure. there will be people who know what i am talking about.
A dark day in the history of smart gambling, the end of an era.
RIP Max betting all markets

I made my way back to the office, loaded up betslips with every possible selection for the team of the lower league i wished to bet for the day, in the usual manner i entered what i knew was the max stake for all markets.
to my shock and horror i received the message for all my bets 'max stake is $7.32' . but this was not the usual restriction, this was something far far worse.......
Re: Tragedy for BET365. Our thoughts and prayers with them!
It was a typical summers morning in europe, the sun was glistening through the trees which gently swayed with the morning breeze. i was enjoying my usual coffee and breakfast before placing the days wagers with our good friend from Stoke-on-Trent, UK. But there was something not quite right, an ill feeling in the air that day....treblepop wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 5:20 pma real killer blow for the serious smart gambler was the so called 'Black Wednesday' of the summer of 2022.

Very poetic but a smart bettor is not relied in just one bookmaker and just one technique. Move on.

sure senor blackjack and senor TJTaker you make valid points. However, there is also something to be said for the worth of being a specialist in milking a certain breed of cow.
We have an old saying in the UK from the Celtic times ' When the majority of smart bettors say 'move on' it leaves more of the finest milk for those who stay with the old cow'
