This was the final nail in the coffin
The news you just share about William Hill was something I already expected, it was just a matter of time
Arbing will die very soon...
It won't even last another year
I made thousands of euros a month, then hundreds and now almost nothing

This is a pattern reported many times in the forum from a number of members. It is a reality.
It seems to me that UK bookmakers can dictate whatever they wish in their government, however this is not (yet) the case for other bookmakers who are registered and regulated by other authorities.
Arbing is indeed at its all time low. But instead for raising the white flag and quitting a job, maybe it worths searching for other ways of making money within this sphere. Once you capitulate, there is no way back. Even if you stay one year out of this business you will lose the killer's touch and all developments that might occur. Maybe it is better to semi-retire, before you retire completely.
Just a thought.

I understand you perfectly my friend, but Arbing is what I love and what I'm really good at (And the profits weren't bad at all)

I concur TjTaker. Wish I smashed it during the good years when I had the chance. I did okay but could have done better. Make hay while the Sun shines...

Re: What happened when a £5 bet won at WilliamHill?
I used to arbitrage bookmakers and exchanges and also trade and market make on exchanges full time. Now I only work on weekends and that's mainly on exchanges. Make a fraction of what I used to.
It became difficult during and after covid and the cost of living crisis. Now with the source of wealth checks the liquidity on the exchanges has completely dropped. Sometimes I can only get matched on smarkets if I ask for odds below bookie prices which defeats the purpose and means small profits.
I've been investing by previous profits in the stock market in ETF's and they are going okay. I'm thinking about trying to learn to trade stocks using technical analysis. I'll be starting from scratch so probably end up losing everything lol.

"Now with the source of wealth checks the liquidity on the exchanges has completely dropped."
This is what is killing arbing
Among other things, of course, but it was mainly because of that
When those changes began I felt a brutal drop in my profit
Going from thousands per month to hundreds is ruining my mental health
Mainly because it's my only source of income and as I said, because I'm good at it and I really love arbing
I don't know what the future holds and despite trying to stay optimistic, things will only get worse until it's definitely over

What country are you in? Could try shop arbing. Have a go at value betting if that interests you? Get a part time job?
It does feel like the best days of sports arbitrage betting are gone. I'm the UK and we can't even open our own personal Pinnacle account.

I'm in Portugal
There are no bookie shops here
But can you open an account with Pinnacle through other means in the UK or not?
I lost over 90% of my profits since 2020, and you? How much was the fall?
DPG, if you can, talk to Nikos so he can give you my email so I can talk to you in more detail

Re: What happened when a £5 bet won at WilliamHill?
Yes in UK you have to use an agent if you want Pin but even then you have problems. I was happily using Pinnacle through Asian Odds platform with Asian Connect but then Asian Connect closed my account. They must have been taking a position on my bets or else there would be no reason to have closed me down. Really annoyed me that did as they were supposed to be the most reputable agent.
Hard to say exactly how much my profits went down because it varied depending how busy it was. Make about 10-25% of what I used to. And that's if I value bet bookie price boosts and they end up winning.

And pure arbing you don't do it anymore?
In my case losing 90% of profits in 3 years is an absurd of how bad it is

In case you didn't notice there is a petition going on to ''Stop the implementation of betting affordability/financial risk checks'' The number of signees is growing exponentially.
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/649894
If you are not happy with the situation go on and sign this petition. As many of us understand, it is not about gambling. It is about stopping the bad will influence from extremely rogue and malicious bookmakers to the government.

Re: What happened when a £5 bet won at WilliamHill?
The problem is not just source of wealth checks. I see that a lot of local bookies have become much more strict with the limits and number of arb/value bet opportunities decreased pretty significantly. The future of smart betting doesn't seem to be bright. Shame.
