Ice Hockey Rules

Fri Oct 25, 2013 10:26 pm

Hi, i found an arb but i am not completely sure about it.
One bookie is offering regular time 3-way,  handicap -1, while the other offers OT handicap +1.5. Does this cover all outcomes? Thanks.

yes. it's an arb, because overtime allows only one goal.

Bet365 does not count overtime on non usa matches (I think it counts on nhl but dont remember for sure). I think you are using bmbets, a free alert service that makes this error. In general over 4.5 pays more on bet365 because of that. You must always check the overtime rule on ice hockey because.

The ice hockey rule about Under/over is really not easy to understand then i prefer to avoid to place this kind of bet except when it's Under/over for only the first or second period where it's not problem about if overtime count or not.

Like says pinttaluba be really carefull especially with bet365 and instead of playing a risky arb when you are not sure about the rules better to just don't bet it.

I'm not saying it's difficult. I say you must check if rules are the same. There are lots of fake arbs and lots of real arbs. Yesterday i placed some arbs on nhl.  If overtime does not count on both books, go ahead. If it counts on both, go ahead.

Handicaps and O/U 5.5 are always good, regardless of rules.

I've made a mistake some days ago.
Bet over    4.5 at Pinny
Bet under  4.5 at Bet365

The regular time finished 2x2 (one more goal at et)

Lost at Pinny and lost at Bet365    :'(

My first bet on hockey was the same. I realized the problem before the match and placed a bet on correct score 2-2 to ensure a small loss.

And now I have problems with Matchbook rules. I placed a bet of total under 5 goals in a match (including overtime), match ended 2:2 after regular time, in the overtime there was no score so it stayed 2:2, and of course the match ended with goal in shootout.

Matchbook refunded my stake, but I believe that should not be the case, they should settled my bet as won. In their hockey rules they clearly stated:

For NHL games, overtime counts for scoring/grading purposes.
'Puck Line' markets offered on NHL matches applying a relevant handicap will be settled on the final score including any overtime that may be played.
If a match is started but subsequently abandoned or carried over by more than three days, all bets will be void, except for those markets which have been unconditionally determined.
For NHL, games must go 55 minutes for action.
KHL games will be graded based on the score at the end of regular time. Overtime and penalty shootouts will not count for scoring/grading purposes.
For "Grand Salami" wagers, if any scheduled game is cancelled or stopped before becoming official, all Grand Salami wagers for that day will be void.
If a match is postponed to a new date or moved to an alternate venue, all bets will be void.
If a match is suspended before becoming official, and is resumed at a subsequent date, all bets will be void.

Can you help me here, am I right or Matchbook is right?

Matchbook is right. Shootouts are considered as part of the overtime and count as one goal.

Thanks, but which part of the rules is stating that shootout is considered as part of the overtime? They should either edit the rules or settle my bet as won, at least that is how I see it.

Well, Well... After finally talking with Matchbook on live chat, they apologize me and settled my bet as won. YEAH!

But guys, be careful, check your every bet and never trust bookies!

Update: They stole my money back again, stating that they made a mistake, and saying that they will change the rules now.  :-\

Yes perhaps they should have made it clear in their terms but it's part of NHL rules that one goal is added to the winner of the shootout. Matchbook did you a favor this time.
