Should you “Bet what you know”?
There are so many similarities between smart betting and investing in stocks, but at the same time, there is a big difference. While in stocks you should ‘’Buy what you know” otherwise you are gambling, in smart betting, you can “bet what you don’t know” without gambling. Well, there are some exceptions here.
Several smart betting techniques do not require you to be an Ice Hockey expert in order to place a Value Bet. You don’t have to know anything about football to place arbs. You don’t have to know how to play basketball to take middle.
This is the magic of smart betting
But at the same time, if you have the knowledge or an opinion about a sport or a team, you will be able to search deeper and find chances that others will never even imagine. You will have an extra edge, on top of your smart betting education.
While you don’t need to know Liverpool’s performance in order to bet on a game, you should always keep in mind that there are some sports and events with significantly higher risks than others. For example, bookmakers have different rules for tennis games and injuries. If you are about to place an arb on a tennis game, be extra careful and confirm that the bookmakers you bet with have the same rules for injuries or for games that weren’t completed for any reason.
Another example is Baseball.
Some bookmakers offer their odds, and these odds will stand if pitcher A or B starts the game. Always confirm that the bookmakers you use list the same pitchers. A very rare situation is when a football game is abandoned or does not start at all for any reason. Most bookmakers return stakes after 3 days, but some bookmakers return them on the very same day. So what happens if the game is played the next day? You have a standing bet, and you need to cover it.
Smart betting means that you have to place a substantial number of bets. Inevitably, sooner or later, you will find yourself in a situation like this. Be prepared to react or act preventively.
